Installing the Superwinch SX series is straightforward thanks to its highly adaptable design. The winch features a clockable three-stage planetary gearbox that allows for four different positions - it's easy to fit into tight bumper clearances. The control box is also relocatable for maximum flexibility. Once everything is positioned perfectly, the bottom mounting bolts require a secure torque of 40 ft lbs to ensure the unit stays rock solid under heavy loads.
While the factory 4-gauge wiring provided by Superwinch is more than sufficient for most users, Patrick opted for a competition-style electrical upgrade. He upgraded the main power line to a thicker 2-gauge wire and integrated a 300-amp resettable circuit breaker into the engine bay.
Why go through the extra effort? As many off-road veterans will tell you, running a heavy-duty circuit breaker allows you to completely kill power to the winch when it's not in use. In the rare event of a front-end trail collision that might pinch the battery line against the frame, having a tripped breaker eliminates the risk of electrical shorts. It's an excellent peace-of-mind modification for serious wheelers.

Driven by a 6.0 horsepower motor and a 231:1 gear ratio, this unit boasts an impressive no-load line speed of 23.4 ft per minute.
