50th Moab Easter Jeep Safari
March 19 – March 27, 2016
Join Superwinch and professional trail guide Bill Burke for a trail run you won't forget. Bill Burke is an expert trail guide and trusted Superwinch consultant; He will be guiding us over some of the best terrain in Moab. In addition the ride will be documented by Moses Ludel the author of the bestselling Jeep® Owner's Bible™. Moses Ludel is also an online publisher at 4WD Mechanix Magazine and HD Video Network. As if that’s not enough, you’ll also get to run with the Superwinch crew. Here is what we are planning:
When: Tuesday 8:30 AM March 22, 2016
Where: Moab, UT Easter Safari: we are meeting at Lions Park - NE Corner of US191 and U128 at the river bridge
What: We will be journeying “North of Arches National Park” and will be professionally guided by Bill Burke.
Requirements: 33” Off Road Tires (rental Jeeps okay), recovery points.
Recommendations: This is a full day trip with appx 25 miles one way highway to get to the trail (and back), moderate rough trail, dirt roads. Vehicles should have a full tank of fuel, plenty of water, lunch, and sunscreen.
Limit: 25 vehicles
Synopsis: Warning: this course will contain some incredible scenery, intriguing history and some Intense 'wheeling! Departing on some of the lesser known tracks in Moab on the north side of Arches National Park the route consist of early survey tracks and now Cow Tank maintenance roads. This challenging terrain route will allow us to visit an old homestead with old cattle line shacks (stone wall structures) and work our way through several drainage washes. We will continue over toward the Poison Strip area to visit some of the abandoned Uranium mines along the Yellow Cat complex. Some remnants still linger and tell the story of the "glory days" of the Uranium boom that created this area and the roads we travel on today! This is a full day run that may require some winching (don’t have a winch, we do so don’t worry), since the trail gets very little use and the wash outs create exciting diversions. This is a challenging route - but never fear, our guide can assist novice to veterans through the course.
