Automatic Brake Holds 10,000 lbs
The Scorpion's automatic brake delivers 100% full-load holding capability, even on the steepest inclines.
Rugged 4-Stage Planetary Gearing
Smooth, steady recovery power; whether in low gear (437:1) for max 10,000 lb pulling power, or high gear (156:1) for fast line retrieval up to 3,500 lbs.
Space-Saving Design
At nearly 25% shorter and 40% lighter, this compact winch offers versatile mounting options where bumper clearances are tight.
Waterproof and DustProof
Fully sealed, with an IP68 waterproof and dust-tight rating to withstand harsh environments.
Overload Protection Prevents Damage
A built-in interrupter automatically shuts the Scorpion Winch down at 10,000 lbs to prevent snapping lines or vehicle damage during extreme pulls.
Rugged Steel Winch Drum
Steel is the only material that Superwinch drums are made from, and won't crack or shatter like aluminum.
FAQs
Will the Scorpion 10SR fit my aftermarket bumper or block my front-facing camera?
We made this winch specifically for modern off-road rigs where space is at a premium. Unlike traditional 10k winches that can weigh 85+ lbs and measure 22 inches across, the Scorpion 10SR trims the fat. It works well with high-clearance bumpers and has an internal control box that helps it maintain a low profile. You'll get max airflow to your radiator and an unobstructed view for most trail cameras. The industry-standard 10" x 4.5" mounting bolt pattern makes it a direct-fit for most modern winch mounts.
Do I need a dual-battery setup to run this winch?
No. A major headache with many high-capacity winches is their massive power draw, often requiring a dual-battery system to prevent stalling your rig. The Scorpion 10SR has an incredibly efficient 1.9 HP permanent magnet motor with a low maximum draw of just 258 amps. You can safely tackle heavy pulls using a healthy, single 12V vehicle battery.
Is the Scorpion 10SR waterproof? Can it handle deep water crossings and mud?
Absolutely. The Scorpion has an IP68 Waterproof and Dustproof rating. The internal mechanics and electrics are sealed and protected.
Do I need to spool the synthetic rope under tension before my first use?
Yes, this is a crucial step for any synthetic rope. Your Scorpion 10SR arrives unspooled out of the box. When you spool the 54-foot synthetic line for the first time, you must do it under load (you can find a walk-through here.) Spooling under tension packs the line tightly and evenly onto the drum, preventing the outer layers from knifing or burying into the lower layers during a heavy recovery.
What is the advantage of the dual-range 4-stage planetary gear system?
The clockable 4-stage planetary gearbox gives you dual-speed control. Drop it into low gear (437:1 ratio) for pulling power up to 10,000 lbs when you're deeply stuck. Switch to high gear (156:1 ratio) for fast line speeds on lighter pulls (under 3,500 lbs) or when quickly respooling your line after an extraction.
How does a drum light help during night recoveries?
Many Superwinch styles featuring a patented, integrated drum light. It directly illuminates the spool, fairlead, and rope so you or your spotter can monitor the line wrap low-light conditions. Combined with the built-in rechargeable flashlight on our wired remote, you'll never have to hold a flashlight in your teeth again.
Why does the Scorpion use a soft shackle instead of a traditional steel hook?
Safety. Traditional heavy steel hooks can become dangerous projectiles if rigging fails. By utilizing a 3/8" synthetic rope paired with an integrated soft shackle, we’ve eliminated metal-to-metal hazards from your winch line entirely. Combined with the overload Interrupter and dynamic no-load braking, this is one of the safest winch setups you can run on the trail.
Does this winch come with wireless controls?
Yes. The Scorpion comes with an ergonomic wireless remote featuring a MOLLE loop clip so you can attach it to your gear and run the winch from a safe vantage point. It also includes a 12-foot wired remote.
